Diagnosis value of color Doppler sonography of carotid atherosclerosis plaque in patients with diabetes mellitus

Purpose Study the diagnosis value of color Doppler sonography of carotid atherosclerosis plaque in patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods The carotid arteries of seventy - two DM patietns and thirty normal subjects were examined by color Doppler sonography, the IMT. Vmax, RI of carotid artery were measured. Results The IMT were significantey thickened in DM patients, forty - two cases had carotid arteriosclerotic plaque,the occurrence rate was 58.3% .There was difference as compared with normal group(P 0.05) .Conclusion There was significantey positive linear correlation between carotid atherosclerosis and diabetes mellitus. Carotid artery sonographic examination in patient with diabetes mellitus has important clinic value,and is an active significance to preventing cerebral stroke of patients with deabetes mellitus.
