Abstract

Objective:Evaluate the diagnostic value of carotid atherosclerosis plaque in patients with diabetes mellitus by color Doppler ultrasonography.Methods:78 cases with type 2 diabetes mellitus and 65 cases non-diabetes mellitus were studied with color Doppler by using high-frequency ultrasonography, observing lumen of carotid artery,intima-medium thickness, identification of plaques and determination of blood flow velocities in the carotid artery. Results:The occurring rate of carotid atherosclerosis plaque Was significantly increased than that of the control group.Intima-medium thickness and identification of plaques is directly related to the age, blood glucose, and course of diabetes mellitus. Conclusions:the occurring rate of carotid atherosclerosis plaque is very high in the group of diabetes mellitus. The main character is plaques. The early diagnosis of color Dopple is exact and reliable. Finally, the color Doppler is very effective on preventting and theraty for diabetes and have important clinical value.
