Abstract
Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture and moxibustion on patients with simple obesity complicated with hypertension on liver depression with spleen insufficiency type. Methods:Totally 229 patients with simple obesity complicated with hypertension on liver depression with spleen insufficiency from Outpatient Department of Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine during the recent 5 years were divided into simple obesity group(n = 113)and simple obesity complicated with hypertension group(n = 116). According to the fundamental of Chinese medicine treatment, patients in two groups all received combination therapy of auricular and body acupuncture. Symptoms, physical signs, obesity indexs, blood pressure in the patients were observed before and after the treatment. Results:Comparison of clinical symptom indexes between the two groups after the treatment:The indexes were significantly lower than those before the treatment. Comparison between the two groups after the treatment:Tatal effective rate in the simple obesity group was higher than that in the other group[96. 46% ,94. 83% (χ2 = 14. 53,P 0. 05)]. Conclusions:Acupuncture has both weight-reducing and reducible blood pressure effects for obesity disease complicated with hyper-tension on liver depression with spleen insufficiency. It indicated that Acupuncture therapy is an effective method for obesity disease complicated with hypertendion.
