Abstract
Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of combined pneumatic and ultrasound lithotripsy in percutaneous nephrolithotomy(PCNL) for renal calculi under B-type ultrasound guide. Methods From June 2005 to December 2006,172 patients(197 kidneys) were treated by combined pneumatic and ultrasound lithotripsy in PCNL,established the percutaneous renal access by B-type ultrasound guide. Results The percutaneous renal access was successfully established under B-type ultrasound guide in all patients and two access was successfully established in the same kidney of 9 cases, immediate phase Ⅰlithotripsy was performed in 169 cases and delayed phrase Ⅱ lithotripsy in 3 cases, the rate of stone clearance was 81.98%.Residual stone fragment was found in 17 patients and received second PCNL,6 patients had residual stones smaller than 1cm of diameter and received treatment of ESWL after operation,8 patients with residual stones refused the second PCNL and were informed to examine regularly after leaving hospital. No surgical complications occurred during lithotripsy after 1 to 18 months follow-up.Conclusion It is effective and safe to treat the lithotripsy of combined pneumatic and ultrasound lithotripsy guide by B-type ultrasound in percutaneous nephrolithotomy in renal calculi.
