The Role of CA15-3 and CEA in Follow-up for Post Operative Patients with Breast Cancer

Abstract

To investigate the role of CA15-3 and CEA in follow-up for post-operation cases with breast cancer. Serum CA15-3 and CEA were examined by radio-immune method in 88 cases with breast cancer after operation. CA15-3 was not significant difference between patients with cancer recurrence and with recurrence (P0.1), while significant difference was observed by CEA (P0.001). There were no significance for the diagnosis of local tumor recurrence or systemic metastasis by detecting both markers in these patients(P0.1). [Conclusion] CEA maybe a routine index for follow-up in patients with breast cancer, but not CA15-3.
