Abstract
Objective Investigating the follow-up value of combined measure of CA15 3 and CEA.Methods CA15 3 and CEA were respectively detected by IRMA and radioimmunoassay(RIA) with the fasting vein blood. Results ①The value of CA15 3 in 3 cases and CEA in 2 cases increased of the total 127 postoperative breast cancer patients without recurrence or metastais, the positive rates were 2.4% and 1.6% respectively. In the 18 cases with recurrence and metastasis, 15 patients were measured with higher CA15 3?CEA, the sensitivity were 83.3%?44.4% and specificity were 97.6%?98.4%; 16 positive patients were detected by eigher of the methods, the sensitivity were 88.9% and the specificity was 96.1%. There was no significant difference compared with detecting CA15 3 alone by x 2 analysis. 0 in patients without recurrence or metastasis and 6 in patients with metastasis and recurrence were detected abnormal CA15 3 and CEA concurrently, sensitivity and specificity were 33.3% and 100%. ②The level of CA15 3 or CEA was significant higher in the breast cancer patients with metastasis and recurrence than those without metastasis and recurrence. Conclusion The detection of CA15 3 and/or CEA can be an important index for the follow-up to the postoperative breast cancer, it is important for the detction of CA15 3 and /or CEA to predict the recurrence and metastasis of breast cancer.
