Epidemiology of public health emergencies at schools in Zhejiang Province During 2005- 2012

Abstract

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics and trends of public health emergencies at school,which could provide suggestion for prevention and control.Methods Descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted on the data of public health emergencies at schools during 2005-2012 from Emergency Public Reporting System in Zhejiang Province.Results A total of 955 public health emergencies at school were reported in Zhejiang Province during 2005-2012,of which 863 infectious diseases events(90.37%) and 72 food poisoning events(7.53%).There was two peak periods of public health emergency at school,which was March to June and September to December.About 60% of emergencies occurred in rural areas.Respiratory diseases such as Chickenpox,mumps accounted for a large part of the events.Conclusion It shows decreased trends of public health emergencies at school in Zhejiang Province.Respiratory diseases were the leading causes,especially tuberculosis,which deserved much more attention.
