Abstract

China is currently experiencing a new pattern of urbanization characterized by rapid development of new cities and large-scaled regeneration of old districts.It is the role of urban planning to attune the development of urban spaces with that of land resource.The theory of Three-Plan Coordination,namely the coordination of urban plans,land use plans and social economic development plans,has been researched and practiced in several cities in China.This paper systematically reviewes current theoretical and practical progress made in this regard.By referring to experiences in Germany and Singapore and analyzing the conflicts between industrial development and land resource in China,policy recommendations on Multiple-Plan Coordination were given to ensure land is supplied to meet the needs of more effective industrial,ecological and environmental development.
