A Review and Prospect of Researches on Urban Poverty in China

Under rapid urbanization process, urban poverty has emerged and deteriorated in China, which has negative effects on city's economic and social development. The study of urban poverty in China has been paid more and more attention. In this paper, a literature review has been made on Chinese urban poverty researches from 2000 to 2013. The review was made according to the logical order of identification of urban poverty and poverty neighborhood, analysis of poverty mechanism and evaluation of anti-poverty measures' effects(i.e. Who, Where-Why-How). Based upon this, the paper analyzed the key topic, focus and evolution of the urban poverty study in China, and then the future research direction was put forward, including the urban poverty indication system, census-data support, and spatial mechanism of urban poverty neighborhood.
