Abstract

Objective To establish suitable diabetic rats models with erectile dysfunction(ED).Methods One hundred and twenty Wistar rats were divided into two groups,the DM groups and the control groups.DM groups were injected intraperitoneally with streptozocin(STZ)(60 mg/kg)to make experimental models of DM.Injected with apomorphine(80 μg/kg),penile erection of the rat models with DM and the controls were observed and noted on the 8th,12th and 16th week from the 4th day of STZ injection.Results The DM ED rat model was established after 8,12 and 16 weeks,the frequency of penis erection in diabetic group was 1.0±0.0,1.0±0.0,1.0±0.0,with which was 2.2±0.8,2.3±0.8,2.0±0.7 in the control groups;the rate of penis erection in diabetic group was only 35%,24%,13% respectively,which was much lower than that 100% in the control groups(P0.01).Conclusion The establishment of DM ED rats models which was induced by STZ injected intraperitoneally is feasible and reliable.
