Establishment of rat model of diabetic erectile dysfunction

Abstract

Objective To investigate the ideal diabetic rats model with erectile dysfunction.Methods Ninety male SD rats randomly divided into 3 groups(groupⅠ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ).Each group equally into control group and diabetes mellitus group again,15 rats in each group.SD rats were injected intraperitoneally with STZ to make experimental models of DM.Injected with apomorphine,penile erection of the rat models with DM and the controls were observed and noted on the 8th,12 th,and 16 th week from the 3rd day of STZ injection.Results The DM ED rat model was established after 8,12,and 16 weeks,the rate with pe nis erection in diabetic group was only 33.3%,21.4%,14.3% respectively,which was much lower than that 100% in the control groups(P0.01).Conclusion Intraperitoneal injection with STZ(65 mg / kg) was a safe method for establishment of diabetic rat model.Subcutaneous injection with Apomorphine(80 μg / kg) was an effective method to screen diabetic rat model with erectile dysfunction.
