A Preliminary Investigation on the Resources of Butterflies in Chaozhou-Shantou Area of Guangdong Province

Abstract

In this paper,a preliminary investigation of butterfly species has been conducted in three representations of landscapes in the Chaozhou-Shantou area with sampling plots set and net capture adopted there.The collected butterflies were made the identification of species and statistical analysis of quantity by the related professional book.The results showed that there are 7 families,39 generas and 51 species of butterflies in Chaozhou-Shantou area,the seven families are Papilionidae,Pieridae,Danaidae,Nymphalidae,Satyridae,Hesperiidae and Lycaenidae etc. The butterflies of Oriental types are the largest number of all.There are very rich resources of wild butterflies in the region which is a good place benefiting the butterflies' living,surviving and multiplying.
