Abstract

Objective To compare the serum lipoprotein(a) levels between patients with diabetic cerebral infarction and patients with non-diabetic cerebral infarction, and to discuss the relationship between Lp(a) diabetes and cerebral infarction. Methods The serum lipoprotein(a) levels were detected using the double-antibodies-sandwich-ELISA method. In addition, the changes of Lp(a) levels between the brain infarction group and the control group, the diabetic cerebral infarction group and the(non-)diabetic cerebral infarction group, the atherosclerotic cerebral infarction group and lacunar infarction group. Results The serum concentration of lipoprotein(a) level was obviously increased in the cerebral infarction group as compared to that of the control group. There were significant meanings in the lipoprotein(a) levels between the diabetic cerebral infarction group and the non-diabetic cerebral infarction group, the atherosclerotic cerebral infarction group and lacunar infarction group(P0.01),respectively.Conclusions Lp(a) is a risk factor of ischemic stroke. It plays an important role in the formation of atherosclerotic plaques. There is a relationship between The Lp(a) and diabetes in the patients with cerebral infarction.
