Abstract
[Objective] To study the effects of fish oil diet on serum leptin、TNF-α、IL-6 and their relationships to insulin resistance in high-fat diet induced obese rats. [Methods] After fed with high-fat diet for 8 weeks, the rats' weight (30g)were more heavier than those of controls' established as obese rats and continued to feed with different foods for another 4 weeks. Blood samples were drawed by heart puncture and parameters were measured. [Results] As compared with controls, the obese rats had higher serum leptin、IL-6 and I/G indexes, but the levels of TNF-a were not different between two groups;Serum leptin and IL-6,but not TNF-α were closely related to I/G indexes evaluating insulin resistance . Fish oil diet greatly reduced serum IL-6,but did not significantly decrease serum leptin, TNF-α and I/G indexes. I/G indexes were still related to serum leptin. [Conclusions] Increased levels of serum leptin and IL-6 in high-fat diet induced obese rats may contribute to insulin resistance. The main cause that fish oil diet is unable to decrease serum leptin may be insulin resistance maintenance.
