Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of radiofrequency thermocoagulation for treatment of trigeminal neuralgia with further expounding on its methods and indication. Methods: To puncture the skin, the needle reaches the root of trigeminal nerve through ovale foramen and link up with instrument of radiofrequency thermocoagulation and its accessary electrodes. To heat the anode to 80~85℃ under control, and damage the interrelating sensory branehes of trigeminal nerve. Results: The total effective rate was 98%; the ineffective rate was 1.40%; the recurrence rate was 3%. Conclusion: Radiofrequency thermocoagulation for treatment of trigeminal neuralgia is safe, with wide indication, markedly effective; it is particularly safe for the patients with angiocardiopathy.
