A Cognitive Analysis of Synecdoche:Taking Human Body Words as Examples

Abstract

Some problems cannot be solved if synecdoche is studied under metonymy.To make some necessary distinctions between synecdoche and metonymy is of great help for scholars to understand them.Analyzing synecdoche related to human body from the perspective of cognitive linguistics and explaining its forming device and the reason why synecdoche related to human body develops dynamically from the prominence view and the experiential view respectively will help to better understand synecdoche.
