Abstract
Objective To investigate the association of apolipoprotein B(ApoB) gene -516C/T polymorphism with coronary heart disease(CHD) in Chinese Han Population. Methods ApoB gene -516C/T polymorphism was measured using polymerase chain reaction-restrictive fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) in 162 CHD patients and 186 controls, the contrastive analysis and the relevant analysis of genotype and allele distribution was performed. Results Distribution of ApoB genotype was in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in control group. The frequency of TT genotype in CHD group was significantly higher than that in control (12.96% vs 4.84%,P0.05); and the frequency of T allele in CHD group was significantly higher than that in control (29.01% vs19.35%, P0.01) .After adjusted for age ,gender and other CHD risk factors by multiple Logistic regression analysis , the odds ratio of T allele carriers for coronary heart disease was increased than that of non-carriers(OR =1.92; 95% CI =1.16-3.18). Furthermore, Plasma TC and LDL-C levels in T allele carriers were markedly higher than non-T allele carriers in controls (P 0.05). Conclusion ApoB gene -516C/T polymorphism is associated with CHD risk in Chinese Han population, and T allele may serve as genetic determinants for CHD.
