Abstract

Objective To investigate the role of prostaglandin E2(PGE2) in the pothogenesy of human secondary middle ear cholesteatoma epithelium.MethodsThe level of PGE2 in 12 middle ear cholesteatoma specimens(observed group) and 10 samples of normal external ear canal skin(control group) were examined by RIA method.ResultsThe expression of PGE2 in the observed group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P0.01).ConclusionsHigh expression of PGE2 play an important role in the pothogenesy and development of cholesteatoma.Inhibition of PGE2 drugs may prevent the formation of cholesteatoma.
