Abstract

Objective: To study the expression of(IL-1α) in human middle ear cholesteatoma and granulation tissue and discuss their roles in the pathogenesis of otitis media. Methods: The expression of IL-1α in cholesteatoma, granulation tissue and skin of external auditory canal were observed by immunohistochemistry method in 47 cases of patients with chronic otitis media, and the results were analyzed by the computer image analysis system. Results: The grey value of IL-1α were negatively related with the cholesteatoma′s bone resorption(r=-0.890,P0.01),or in the granulation tissue(r=-0.844,P0.01).Conclusion: IL-1α plays an important role in the formation of cholesteatoma and granulation tissue, which also is related with the bone resorption.
