Abstract

Objective To study the serum level of matrix metalloproteinase-9(MMP-9) and it's short-term prognostic value for patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS).Methods The study population included 60 patients with ACS,30 patients with stable angina pectoris(SAP) and 30 controls from people who attended a routine health check.Serum levels of MMP9 were measured by means of ELISA.30 ng/ml was the boundary of the lever of MMP-9,the rate of cordis event in normal group and increased group were observed. Results Serum levels of MMP-9 were significantly higher in ACS group(30.33±14.00) ng/ml than those in the SAP group(2.72±0.98) ng/ml and the control group(2.84±1.39) ng/ml(P0.01).The SAP group had no different with the control group(P0.05).In the follow-up 3 months,37 of 60 ACS patients had high MMP-9,18 patients having cordis event. It was higher than the normal group(P0.01).Conclusions The serum of MMP-9 play an important role in occurrence of ACS and short-term prognostic of ACS.It could be one index of risk profile.
