The Relationship Between Serum Levels of Matrix Metalloproteinase-2, -9 and the Severity Condition in Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome

Objective:To investigate the relationship between serum levels of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2),MMP-9 and the severity condition in patients with acute coronary syndrome(ACS).Methods:A total of 72 patients were divided into stable angina pectoris(SAP) group,n=34 and ACS group,n=38,ACS group including unstable angina pectoris(UAP) subgroup,n=13 and acute myocardial infarction(AMI) subgroup,n=25.The patients were also divided into another 3 groups as Single branch lesion group,n=24,Double branch lesion group,n= 21 and Three branch lesion group,n= 27.Control group had 26 subjects with normal coronary artery.The serum levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were examined and compared among all groups at 1 day before the operation.Results: ① Serum levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in ACS group was higher than those in SAP group and Control group,P0.05.MMP-2 and MMP-9 levels were similar between SAP group and Control group,P0.05.MMP-2 and MMP-9 levels in AMI subgroup were higher than that in UAP subgroup,P0.05.② MMP-2 and MMP-9 levels were similar among Control group,Single,Double and Three branch lesion groups,P0.05.Conclusion: Serum levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 might be correlated with the severity condition in ACS patients.
