A Review of Liao Ping's Thought about the Study of Confucian Classics

Gratifying achievement has been made in the research on Liao Ping's thought about the study of Confucian classics since the 1980s on the basis of former research results.The relevant research has mainly concentrated on Liao Ping's academic road and the causes for his six changes in the study of Confucian classics.There are some common understandings in this respect,but different views also exist.In addition,the research on the relation between Liao Ping and Kang Youwei's thought about the study of Confucian classics has also become a heated issue.The research results in this respect are clarifying the issue,but it still needs time to get it finally settled.The research on Liao Ping's thought about the study of Confucian classics teaches us that,to reappraise Liao Ping's thought,we must combine the characteristics of the social and historical development with the thought of the academic subject before we could become more objective and more comprehensive in understanding Liao Ping's thought about the study of Confucian classics.
