Abstract
AIM:To compare the acute reaction and the short term therapeutic effect after root filling in one-off RCT and pulpectomy between Endomethasone permanent root canal sealer plus gutta percha and root filling paste plus gutta percha. METHODS: 632 cases with 678 suffering teeth of alive pulp and those of fit for one-off RCT were chosen and divided into 2 groups in random. The experimental group and the contrast group were filled with Endomethasone sealer plus gutta percha and root filling paste plus gutta percha respectively after root canal preparation. The acute reaction after operation in one week and the short term therapeutic effect in 3 months and 6 months were observed. RESULTS: The rate of acute reaction of pulpectomy in the experiment group is obviously lower than the contrast group (P0.01),and that of RCT in experiment group is conspicuously lower than the contrast group (P0.05) after root canal filling. The rate of acute reaction of one root canal teeth is obviously lower than that of several root canals teeth after one-off root canal filling both in experiment group and contrast group (P0.01). After 3 months and 6 months, the effective rate of experiment group is higher than the contrast group, but without significant difference (P0.05) both in pulpectomy and RCT. CONCLUSION: In relation to root filling paster, filling root canal with Endomethasone sealer could effectively reduce the incidence of acute reaction after operation in one-off RCT and pulpectomy. But the short term therateupic effect of Endomethasone sealer was not significant. The long term therapeutic effect needs further survey.
