Abstract

Objective To investigate the significance of total bile acid (TBA)in the serum of patients with hepatic cirrhosis. Methods Data about liver function of 74 cases with hepatic cirrhosis was collected, and the difference of sensitivity between TBA and other conventional liver function index was studied. Results serum TBA of hepatic cirrhosis group is obviously higher than that of healthy control group (P0.01),Its level is 7.1 fold of the level of healthy control group.the abnormal rate is 75%,and obviously higher than the others, such as Alanine aminotransferase(ALT),Aspartate aminotransferase(AST),γ-glutamyl transpeptidase(γ-GT)or alkaline phosphatase(ALP)(P0.010),what is more, the more poor the functional grade during Child-pugh of patients, the higher the serum TBA,this phenomena showed that serum TBA had positive corelation with the damage degree of liver cells. Conclusion TBA is one of the sensitive indexes reflecting cell damage of hepatic cirrhosis, which has a great significance to predict and judge the prognosis and degree of condition for patients with liver cirrhosis.
