British and American imagist poetry and Hu Shi's new poems:a study on Hu Shi's partial acceptance of western poetry and effects of his new poems

Hu Shih's new poems have something in common with imagist poetry but they are not completely corresponded to each other.Hu never acknowledged that his new poems are originated from imagist poetry.Thus,there is a constant dispute on whether Hu Shi's new poems are influenced by imagist poetry in academic circles.Their opinions differ mainly in two aspects: the degree and the aspect in which Hu Shi's poem was influenced.According to this article,new poem is just partially influenced.Such partial acceptance conforms to Hu's understanding of both the development of the western and Chinese poems and interaction between these two cultures.We have reasons to believe that this results in the influence of a certain school of literature to Hu's new poems.
