Abstract

This paper investigates the evolution of the image of Hu Shi by way of sorting out dozens of works of literary history since the 1920s.In the literary history of the Republic of China,Hu Shi is looked upon as the first advocate of new poems for Hu Shi is closely related with the new poems.After 1949,Hu Shi is criticized because of class struggle and determinism of subject matter.After the reform and opening up in 1978,literary history returns to its academic track,so Hu Shi's value in the new poems is recognized and his image is corrected.After 1990,he is expounded more historically and academically.
