Abstract

Objective To study the dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI appearances of pituitary micro-adenoma. Methods In total 35 cases of pituitary micro-adenoma confirmed by clinical diagnosis were examined by dynamic contrast enhanced MRI scan. MR findings were analyzed and evaluated. Results In 20 cases the micro-adenoma was hypo-intense on T1WI in plain scan. In 28 cases tumors represented hypo-intense lesions on early-phase of dynamic contrast scan, well distinguished within the pituitary gland, while they were enhanced and eventually equal to the pituitary gland. Conclusion Dynamic contrast enhanced MRI scan provides diagnostic information and evidence to the cases suspected with pituitary micro-adenoma clinically, or indolent on plain scan.
