Abstract
Objective To investigate the MRI performance of pituitary adenoma.Materials and methods 60 cases of pituitary tumor were scanned by MRI,including the spin echo sequence(SE) axial, sagittal and coronal T1WI and T2WI,the suspected micro-adenomas patients were arranged to have Gd-DTPA contrast-enhanced scan. Results The MRI performance of pituitary adenoma is long or iso-T1,long T2 signal and has obvious mass effect, often invases the optic chiasm upward and invases the cavernous sinus towards bilateral. The shape and signal of the pituitary changed unconspicuous in the micro-adenomas cases and Gd-DTPA contrast-enhanced scanning is needed to make an definite diagnosis. Conclusion MRI has an important value in diagnosing the pituitary adenoma and Gd-DTPA contrast-enhanced MRI scanning increased the detection rate of microadenomas obviously.
