Abstract

Objective:To study the effects of amlodipine and benazepril used individually or in combination on plasma nitrogen monooxidum(NO)and endothelin(ET)in patients with essential hypertension(EH).Methods:A total of 126 cases with EH were divided randomly into three groups:amlodipine group(group A,n=41);benazepril group(group B,n=45);combined treatment group(group C,n=40,treated with amlodipine and benazepril). The blood pressure, plasma NO and ET were measured before and after treatment. The 40 healthy subjects selected as control group. Results:The plasma NO level significantly decreased,ET level significantly increased(P0.01 all)in three EH groups, compared with normal control group. After treatment, the blood pressure,ET level significantly reduced(P0.01),the level of plasma NO significantly increased(P0.01 all)in three groups. The effect of group A and B was no significant differance(P0.05).The effect of group C were more obvious than that of group A and group B(P0.05).Conclusion:The amlodipine combined with benazepril has additive effects on decrease blood pressure and ET level and increase NO level than those of amlodipine or benazepril used alone.
