Abstract

A high waterabsorbing copolymer resin based on sodium acrylate, acrylamide,2hydroxyethyl acrylate and N,N′methylenebisacrylamide was prepared by inverse suspension copolymerization and potassium persulfate/sodium acid sulfite as redox initiator,Span80/Tween80 as composite dispersing agent. The relationship between the waterabsorption capacity of the copolymer and the composition of the copolymer, oil/water phase ratio, the amount of dispersing agent and particle size were studied. The water retention and kinetic process of dewatering was studied by TGA and DSC.IR spectrum demonstrates the structure of poly sodium acrylate, acrylamide and 2hydroxyethyl acrylate copolymer.
