Abstract

Objective To explore the relationships between blood pressure variability and left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) in essential hypertension patients. Methods Sixty patients with essential hypertension were allocated into group with LVH and group without LVH,and 30 patients with normal pressure as controls.Dynamic blood pressure was monitored in all patients. Results There were significant differences between the group with LVH and group without LVH and controls in hypertension patients in mean pressure in different time and in blood pressure variability(P 0.05).There was also significant difference in LVMI between patients with LVH and patients without LVH and control patients(P 0.05).There was positive correlation between blood pressure variability and LVH.Conclusion There is close relationship between blood pressure variability and LVH in patients with essential hypertension. The study shows the predictive value of blood pressure variability for LVH.
