Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between left ventricular hypertrophy(LVH) and blood pressure variability(BPV) in essential hypertension patients. Methods Sixty-eight cases of patients with essential hypertension were divided into LVH and non-LVH group according to left ventricular mass index(LVMI).Using 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring device,BPV was measured by the standard deviation in each period(day, night and 24-hour).The relevance between IVH and BPV was explored. Results Systolic blood pressure in different period in LVH group was significantly higher than in non-LVH group. There was statistically significant differences in variability of dSSD,dDSD,nSSD,nDSD,24hSSD between the LVH group and the non-LVH group(P 0.05).There was a good correlation between BPV and LVMI.Conclusion There is a close relationship between BPV and LVH in patients with essential hypertension, especially in systolic blood pressure.
