Reference value investigation of serum total bilirubin and direct bilirubin of healthy people in Maoming region

Abstract
[Objective] To investigate the reference value level of serum total bilirubin and direct bilirubin of healthy people in Maoming region.[Methods] Serum total bilirubin and direct bilirubin of 5965 healthy people in Maoming region were determined with diazo reagent method and then were statistically analyzed in different groups of age and gender.[Results] In the region,the mean serum total bilirubin of adult male was(16.10±4.60)μmol/L,and that of adult female was(15.00±4.70)μmol/L.[Conclusion] There is a significant difference between serum total bilirubin level of healthy people in Maoming region and that reported in literature.It is suggested that reference value of serum total bilirubin should be established in the laboratories of different regions according to age and gender,repectively.
