Abstract

Objective To observe the preventive effect of combination of curcumin and vitamin E on liver fibrosis in rats. Methods The liver fibrosis model was induced by hypodermic injection of carbon tetrachloride(CCl4) in rats. The morphological structure in hepatic left lobule were observed through HE staining and Masson trichrome staining. Results The observation on staining showed that the liver fibrosis improved in drug group, especially those in drug combination group when compared with the model group. Conclusion Both curcumin and vitamin E show prophylactic effect on liver fibrosis induced by CCl4 in rats. The drug combination is superior to only one alone, and has a preferably additive effect.
