Experimental Observation on Efficacy of Chlorine Dioxide Produced by Its Generator in Disinfection of Drinking Water

[ Objective ] In order to know the efficacy of chlorine dioxide produced by chlorine dioxide generator in disinfection of drinking water and to guide disinfection of source of water. [ Methods ] According to Technical Standard For Disinfection, filter membrane method was used for germicidal test in disinfection of drinking water and measuring influencing factors test. [ Results ] The disinfectant solution containing chlorine dioxide 0.25 mg/L with a 0.5 min contact time killed 100% of Escherichia coli in water, the temperature, pH value and the organic substance had not obvious influence on its germicidal efficacy. [ Conclusion ] The disinfectant produced by chlorine dioxide generator is useful for disinfection of drinking water , the disinfectant solution containing chlorine dioxide 0.25 mg/L with a 0.5 min contact time can fulfill the requirement of disinfection.
