Abstract
A series of high water absorbing resins have been prepared by inverse suspension copolymerization using N,N methylene bisacrylamide as the crosslinking agent, potassinm persulfate as initiator, and cyclohexane as the continuous phase. The experimental results show the absorption capacity of the resin synthesized is more than 800 g/g and 100 g/g in case of deionizing water and 0.9% NaCl salution, respectively. The study also includes the effect of the composition of the copolymers on properties of absorption, the amount of initiator agent used, neutralization value of the acrylic acid and dispersion stabilizers. The optimum prescription is presented.
