Breeding of Fine Quality Indica CMS Line Taibang A

Abstract
Elite single plants were selected from F2 generation of Yue 4B (as the female parent) and Fengyuan B to testcross and backcross with Jin 23A, and an early-maturing indica CMS line Taibang A was successfully developed by the Hunan Taibang Agro-Technological Development Co., Ltd.. This CMS line is characterized with early maturity, stable male sterility, fine grain quality, excellent agronomic traits and high combining ability. It was certified by the Hunan Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in February, 2008. The F1 hybrids derived from Taibang A show the qualities of short growth duration, high yield and drawf plants with strong lodging resistance, etc.
