Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture plus ear acupuncture in treating nephritic colic. Methods Sixty patients were randomly allocated to an acupuncture group of 30 cases and a medication group of 30 cases. The acupuncture group received acupuncture and the medication group took Western drugs. The antalgic and pain relief effects were evaluated at the end of treatment. Results Indices to the clinical therapeutic effects improved in both groups. The total efficacy rate was 89.7% in the treatment group and 77.4% in the control group; there was a statistically difference between the two groups(P0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture plus ear acupuncture is effective in treating nephritic colic. Its therapeutic effect is better than that of medication.
