Abstract

Objective The investigate the diagnostic values of serum myocardial enzyme levels for myocardial injury complicated in neonatal asphyxia. Methods 12 infants with neonatal asphyxia and 10 health newborns were enrolled the study.Serum myocardial enzyme levels were determined within 24 hours after blood sampling,EKGs were taken at the same time. Results Serum myocardial enzyme levels in infants with neonatal asphyxia were significantly higher than those in control group.Corresponding electrocardiographic changes were also observed in all infants with neonatal asphyxia. Conclusion Serum myocardial enzyme and EKG examination can be used to diagnose myocardial injury complicated in neonatal asphyxia.
