Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of root canal retreatment with the K3 rotary nickel titanium files in chronic apical periodontitis of deciduous molar. Methods Sixty cases for this study were collected from the patients whose mandibular first deciduous molars with the initial treatment failure. They were randomly divided into two groups. In root canal preparation K3 rotary nickel titanium files were used in the experimental group while the hand stainless steel K files were applied in the control group. The time for root canal preparation, the obturated effect, the postoperative pain reactions and the clinical effect of the retreatment were compared between the two groups. Results The root canal preparation time in the experimental group was shorter than that in the control group. The just fill rate of root canal was higher than that in the control group. The postoperative pain reactions was significantly lower than that in the control group. The short-term clinical effect of the treatment was better than that in the control group. There was no statistically significant difference at the long-term clinical effect of the retreatment between the two groups. Conclusion K3 rotary nickel titanium files prepared root canal rapidly and effectively in deciduous molars, thus it is worth wide application.
