Evaluation of effectiveness of operation skill training for nurses in central sterile supply department

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effectiveness of operation skill training program for the nurses in central sterile supply department so as to improve the professional knowledge of operation skill and to make the training system sound.METHODS A total of 22 young nurses were given the theoretical knowledge and professional operation skills training,after the end of the training,the assessment of rules and the special operating skills were performed,being considered the more than 85 points as qualified,the statistical analysis of the score of the assessment was carried out.RESULTS The two groups of nurses were all tested qualified for the assessment of 5 operation skills including the identification of orthognathic surgical instruments,packaging of surgical gowns,surgical dressings,surgical instruments,and gas cut packaging.Both the operation time and the assessment score of the nurses with less than 10 years of working experience were higher than the nurses with less than 3 years of work experience.CONCLUSION Through the planned and targeted professional operation skill training program,the assessment has been made standardized,the training management system having been made sound,and the professional knowledge of sterile supply and operation skill of the nurses have been improved.
