Abstract

[Objective] To analyse he death causes of death due to injury among residents in Baoshan District of Shanghai in the past 20 years to grasp the epidemical characters the influence to the residents, in order to provide the evidence for evaluating the effective preventive measures. [Methods] Data on mortality, standardized mortality rate, the percent rate, Years of Potential Life Lost (YPLL), Average Years of life lost (AYLL) were calculated respectively. [Results] A total of 7 138 death cases were due to injury, accounted for 7.12%, the mortality rate was 51.27/100 000 as the cause of death. The mortality rate, the standardized rate and the percent rate of males were lower than the females. The first cause of death due to injury in the crowd was accident. The mortality, standardized mortality rate, the percent rate, Years of Potential Life Lost (YPLL), Average Years of life lost (AYLL) became lower and lower. [Conclusion] The injury has become the serious influence to residents’ health in Baoshan District.
