When papers written in Chinese refer to Chinese American writers and scholars,it is advisable to use their Chinese names rather than the transliteration of their English names.Since they are Americans of Chinese descent,using their Chinese names is a way of showing their Chinese identity,not to mention many of the writers and scholars wish to go by their Chinese names in China.What is more important,it is through their Chinese names that many Chinese Americans restore their original surnames lost when their forefathers were admitted into the U.S.as paper sons.
