Abstract

Objective To explore the expression and significance of E-cadherin (ED) and P16 gene protein in carcinoma of gallbladder. Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to investigate the expression of ED and P16 gene protein in 58 cases of carcinoma of gallbladder and 20 cases of adenoma of gallbladder and 20 cases of chronic cholecystitis. Results The positive expression rate of ED and P16 gene protein in carcinoma of gallbladder was 44.8% and 37.9%,respectively,which was significantly lower than that in adenoma of agllbladder and chronic cholecystitis(P0.05).The expression of ED and P16 gene protein was positively correlated with the differentiated grade, infiltration of serosa and metastasis of carcinoma of gallbladder(P0.05).Conclusion Expression of ED and P16 could be helpful in predicting the biological behavior and prognosis of carcinoma of gallbladder.
