External Trabeculotomy Associated with Trabeculectomy in the Treatment of Congenital Glaucoma

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of external trabeculotomy associated with trabeculectomy in the treatment of congenital glaucoma.Methods Six cases(11 eyes)of congenital infantile glaucoma were treated with trabeculotomy associated with trabeculectomy following up for 20 months in average.Results After 7 days postoperation,IOP of 11 eyes were normal,IOP of 10 eyes were normal following up for 20 months.The successful rate of operation was 90.9%.The common complication of operation was a small amount of hyphema which was totally resolved within 1-5 days in majority and there was no influence on the final outcome.Conclusion External trabeculotomy associated with trabeculectomy is a safe and effective method for congenital infantile glaucoma.
