Influence of EPS on membrane fouling and countermeasures thereof

Abstract

Membrane fouling in membrane bio-reactor(MBR) directly affects the stability and the economic efficiency of the process.Through the analysis of the membrane fouling mechanism,it was found that,extracellu-lar polymeric substances(EPS) was the main factor that caused the membrane fouling.Based on the summarization of the characteristics,components and influencing factors of EPS,the measures for membrane fouling control were put forward.
