Observation of combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine in the treatment of perimenopausal syndrome

Objective To study the effect of combination of Bazhen decoction and estrogen replacement therapy for perimenopausal syndrome.Methods 121 patients with perimenopausal syndrome were randomly divided into two groups.Patients in treatment group(n=61) were treated by Bazhen decoction of traditional Chinese medicine once a day combined with Nilestriol,2 mg,once two weekly.Patients in control group(n=60) were treated by only Nilestriol,2 mg,once two weekly.The therapeutic course was one month in both of groups.Serum levels of E2,FSH and LH were determined before and after treatment.Results The obvious effective rate and total effective rate in treatment group(91.8%,96.7%) were superior to those in control group(73.3%,90.0%,P0.05).Serum level of E2 after treatment obviously increased in comparison with those before treatment I both groups(P0.05).And serum levels of FSH,LH significantly decreased after treatment in treatment groups in comparison with before treatment(P0.05).There was no significantly difference between two groups in serum of levels of E2,FSH and LH after treatment(P0.05).Side effect in treated group was less obviously than that in control group(P0.05).Conclusion Combination of Bazhen decoction of Traditional Chinese medicine and estrogen replacement therapy for perimenopausal syndrome could change estrogen level and clinical symptoms.The effect of combination of TCM with Western medicine was was superior to that of estrogen replacement therapy,and obviously reduced side effect merged by estrogen replacement therapy.
