Abstract

Objective To evaluate value of color Doppler in the diagnosis of the pregnancy in the scar of previous caesarean section. Methods Two diemensional (2D) and color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI) ultra- sonograms of the 21 patients with pregnancy in previous caesarean section scars (May 2005 to April 2007) were retrospectively analyzed. Results All cases were verified by clinical and pathologic results, including 14 with gastrula type and 7 with commix mass type.Rich blood supply was observed in 20 cases by transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound, and the blood signals were weak in 1 case.Twenty cases were correctly diagnosed by ultra- sound and there was 1 misdiagnosis, with the correct diagnosis rate of 95%.Conclusion Ultrasonography,es- pecially transvaginal color Doppler ultrasound,is one of the best methods for the diagnosis of the pregnancy in the uterine scar of previous caesarean section.
