Abstract
Objective To investigate the role of interleukin 2(IL 2) in the formation of cholesterol Methods A radioimmunoassay was used to detect the content of IL 2 in cholesterol gallstones in 56 patients and in the gall tissues and in bile in 16 non gallstone patients. Results The content of IL 2 in the gallbladder tissue and gallbladder bile in the cholesterol gallstone group showed great difference as compared with the control group ( F=6.04, 3.84, q=3.14-4.78, P 0.05, 0.01). In cholesterol gallstone group, IL 2 content in gallbladder tissue and in gallbladder bile showed significantly positive correlativity ( r= 0.66, P 0.001). IL 2 content in the bile and gallbladder tissues in multiple stone patients was higher than those single stone ones, though there was no significant difference ( q=0.74, 0.16, P 0.05). Conclusion IL 2 content in gallbladder tissue and gallbladder bile may take an important role in the formation of cholesterol gallstone.
