Abstract
Biliary calcium is believed to be of great important in gallstone pathogenesis.This study was per formed to determine if quantitative difference in calcium is present in gallbladder bile from patients with and without gallstones. Bile was obtained by direct gallbladder aspiration from 57 patients undergoing epiabdominal surgery. Twenty-two had no evidence of gallstones, 19 had cholesterol gallstones, and 16 had black pigment stones, Free Ca2+ ion ranged from 1. 5 ± 0. 1 0, 1 - 31 ±0. 32, 1. 79 ± 0. 44mmol/L, respectively, Considerable overlap was observed between patients with and without gallstones,Free Ca2+was greater in gallbladder lile form gallstone patients,the black pigment gallstone patients were the biggest (P0. 05) .
